Connecting from Bologna, the city where he was born and he currently lives and works, Rudy began his talk from the early years of his artistic path: "I started painting when I was 16, when an artist I met by chance gave me a box of oil paints, which is the media I'm still using today. (...) Painting for me is actually something that happened to be necessary in my own practice. (...) The personal relationship that I have both with contemporary art and with painting is something that is very personal, as I have always being cultivating my artistic practice in an intimate space."

He shared insights into his personal way of perceiving painting, material and form, and into the fundamental role that lines, borders, the concept of protection and survival play in his work. "This doesn't mean that my work doesn't imply ambiguity or doubt: where there are lines and borders, there are an inside and an outside, us and the others, good and evil."

At the end of his talk, Rudy pointed to the direction he might tend to, at the moment: the idea of Void.

"Sometimes you have subjects that you prefer for their intrinsic characteristics, and sometimes they still carry with them a reason that is not entirely comprehensible. Keeping this mystery makes evolution possible, but leads also to a strong void. Maybe this void within an edge could represent my new direction."
